Lorraine Parker has been a teacher of Textiles and Design for over 30 years.

With work and articles published in Down Under Quilts and the goal of being published further, Lorraine has also lectured in Textiles Innovation at the Australian Catholic University and recently been commissioned to write the design unit for trainee teachers at Southern Cross University.

"Textiles and Design has been an integral part and passion in my life. Whilst teaching, I loved the challenge of facilitating creativity and innovation in my HSC Textiles and Design students.

I have traveled extensively in Australia and overseas, taking students on three different occasions on a Food and Fashion Tour (twice to England, France and Italy, and once to New Zealand). This has given me a broad view of design and fashion and given me a wealth of ideas and inspiration for present and future projects.

My “Fabric Manipulation and Embellishment” class stems from a need to go beyond the two-dimensional textile environment and explore new techniques and ideas."
