Lorraine Parker has been a teacher of Textiles and Design for over 30 years.
"I have loved the challenge of the new HSC syllabus as it has embraced the creative side of textiles and in particular textile arts. I was recently invited to lecture in Textiles Innovation at the Australian Catholic University for a semester. This involved preparing trainee teachers to deliver the HSC Textiles and Design course as part of their teacher training.
I have been in love with textiles and design all my life passing on my passion for creativity to my students.
I have traveled extensively in Australia and overseas, taking students on three different occasions on a Food and Fashion Tour (twice to England, France and Italy in 2001, 2003 and once to New Zealand, 2005 ). This has given me a broad view of design and fashion and given me a wealth of ideas and inspiration for present and future projects.
My “special bag” class stems from a need to go beyond the two-dimensional textile environment and explore new techniques and ideas."
